MERITUS are recruiting for a Electronics Engineers to join our client within the national security industry on an initial 12 month contract from their major site in Bolton. ELECTRONICS ENGINEER - CALIBRATION & MAINTENANCE EXPERIENCE - INSIDE IR35 - £35 PER HOUR - UNDERGO SC CLEARANCE - BOLTON - 12 MONTHS - SINGLE STAGE INTERVIEW PROCESS

We are working in partnership with a leading defence organisation who are seeking a talented Electronics Engineer to join their Calibration & Maintenance Team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an engineer with strong fault-finding skills and calibration experience to work on advanced and bespoke test systems used in the production of next-generation missile systems.

This role offers the chance to work within a well-established and supportive engineering team, with opportunities for continued training and development - including calibration support for Special to Type Test Equipment (STTE) spanning technologies from DC to Microwave.



Key Responsibilities:

  • Service, fault-find, and repair electrical/electronic test equipment, including STTE.

  • Support regular calibration schedules and commissioning of new test equipment.

  • Conduct drift analysis and ensure optimal test system performance.

  • Use technical documentation (manuals, specs, drawings) to perform component-level diagnostics and repairs.

  • Collaborate closely with the production and test teams to maintain system reliability.







Ideal Candidate Will Have:

  • A minimum HNC/HND in Electrical & Electronic Engineering.

  • Proven experience calibrating and maintaining test systems down to component level.

  • A strong understanding of calibration principles and electronic fault-finding.

  • Confidence in interpreting engineering documentation to provide technical solutions.

  • Good problem-solving ability and capable of managing multiple tasks/priorities.

  • Experience using SAP (desirable).

  • Familiarity with environmental chambers (an advantage).

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to mentor junior staff if required
