Electronics Test Engineer

Bolton – 12 month duration – Pay rate £34 to £37 p/h Umbrella (£25.31 to £27.54 PAYE basic)

We are looking to recruit a Production Test Engineer to work on electronics assemblies for our aerospace/defence client based in Bolton. You will be diagnosing test failures on complex missile systems and testing down to component level. For candidates who live over 30 miles away there will be an accommodation allowance payable each week.

Responsibilities:

  • Production test and diagnostics of complex weapons at system and Subsystem level.
  • Testing of complex electronic & electrical equipment, and diagnosis of production test failures down to component level. Identification of corrective action, in a timely manner allowing Manufacturing to continue production in line with programme.
  • Assessment of Test Equipment issues, directing support services to resolve equipment failures.
  • Evaluation of technical problems in order to develop proposals for investigations and corrective actions, including process improvements.
  • Test Engineering representative at Defect Review Board meetings to ensure efficient progress of equipment and quality notifications towards corrective action. Role requirements (skills, training and qualifications)
  • HNC/HND (Electronics) Level of Qualifications or equivalent, plus good level of experience in digital & analogue electronics manufacture and test.
  • A good understanding of measurement and test principles, and associated equipment.
  • An understanding of RF and microwave technology at subsystem level would be an advantage.
  • An understanding of Environmental testing (including ESS) would also be an advantage.
  • Good planning and organising skills.
  • Communication skills, with the ability to communicate well both verbally and in writing.
  • Analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Manual handling training.
  • ESD training.

Skillset/experience required:

  • HNC/HND in Electronics, or equivalent qualification.
  • Significant background in test engineering for complex electronics systems.
  • Test and diagnosis down to component level.
  • Background of working in aerospace/defence industry would be beneficial.

Additional information:

Please note, due to the sensitive nature of the projects involved, all candidates must be capable of gaining a UK MOD Security Clearance to SC level. If you are not currently SC cleared the client will sponsor a new application and you can start while this is pending.

This role shall operate inside IR35.
