Supporting a Lead File Handler with a mixed case load of disease files. Performing delegated tasks to pursue the progression/resolution of the case.
Key Responsibilities• To undertake initial steps on a file including sending out acknowledgements, and procedural documents such as AOS/Notice of Acting.• Conduct such investigations as are appropriate and as may be delegated from time to time by the Lead File Handlers)• Carry out standard procedural tasks, eg standard applications.• Progress so as to be able to carry out non-standard procedural tasks, including drafting non-standard court documents, conducting advocacy at interim hearings and preparing for trial.• Where appropriate, review medical records and take witness statements.• To assist the Lead File Handler(s) in progressing the file in the most appropriate manner.• Undertake Legal Research: attend client presentations; take training notes; attend court with counsel; watching brief at inquests; attend conferences; undertake supervised negotiation• To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations• Adhere to Keoghs ValuesActivity Time Frames:• Adaptable; follows the direction of the LFH and prioritises own activity on a daily basis.• Scale and Scope• Typically expect 6.6 chargeable hours per day, to be agreed at team/local level.• Supports one or more Lead File Handler(s)• Works on the case load of the Lead File Handler• Complete delegated tasks within time frame agreed with Lead File HandlerWorking Hours  35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location for this role is Bolton
