We are seeking a Head of Area for Service Industries, encompassing Hairdressing & Beauty Therapy, Visual & Performing Arts, Business, and Hospitality. This role involves managing the provision within the programme area, ensuring effective implementation of quality assurance procedures, and managing resources to achieve annual targets for learner numbers, income, expenditure, and success rates.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Develop strategic curriculum planning, including setting and achieving departmental targets and key objectives.
  • Design and deliver courses that comply with quality standards and regulations of the College.
  • Contribute to the College’s marketing strategy and engage in publicity and public relations activities.
  • Implement Quality Assurance procedures and systems, including course reviews and action plans.
  • Manage enrolment and registration of students, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of learner information.
  • Lead teams through compliance procedures and manage the administration of accreditation for prior learning.
  • Recruit, select, and induct staff, ensuring all staff are appraised and set developmental targets.
  • Oversee student projects, field trips, and work placements.
  • Prepare reports and attend meetings for College committees and other internal and external meetings.
  • Ensure effective staff development and CPD delivery across the area in line with college priorities.
  • Maintain knowledge of current developments in skills sectors to enable the College to respond appropriately.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Experience in managing educational programmes, particularly in service industries.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to manage and develop teams.
  • Knowledge of quality assurance procedures and curriculum development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work flexibly, including evenings and weekends when required.
