Your new companyThis multi-academy trust has over 30 schools as part of the trust, with a strong concentration of these in the North West and the trust has approached Hays looking to appoint a Senior IT Engineer at a secondary school in the Greater Manchester area (Walkden). The successful candidate will become part of the central IT team, whilst also being an integral part of the support staff team on site at the school. The trust has an excellent reputation, following growth and positive results over a number of years, and the IT team has gone through a successful transformation and now consists of around 30 IT specialists. This secondary school has an OFSTED rating of good, also with an excellent reputation due to high performance and the strong focus they have on raising standards across the school.Your new roleReporting to the Regional IT Manager, you will become an integral part of the central IT team and support team on site, where you will work with other IT specialists on site to provide a high level of IT support to staff and pupils. As Senior IT Engineer, you will be the most senior member of IT staff on site and will therefore work closely with more junior members of staff to train, mentor and support. As a team, you are responsible for maintaining the hardware and software utilised on-site, assisting and training on the use of new IT equipment on-site and ensuring all equipment is accessible to all end users. Technical support will include the setting up/installation of new equipment, software upgrades and ensuring all IT is in line with security policies. From a server/networking and cloud perspective, you will be responsible for maintaining standard network cabling, performing basic diagnostic and recovery routines and configuring networks and connecting to the relevant servers. From a maintenance perspective, this will involve working closely with other leaders around the website, management information systems, AV equipment and other education-specific technologies. What you'll need to succeedIn order to be successful in securing this position, you will possess significant IT experience working in the education sector providing on-site support to end users, ensuring a high level of support. Experience working with Google classroom and with a wider IT team in a school, college or trust would also be beneficial. You will be passionate about working in the education sector with the drive to deliver an excellent service to end users, working well as part of a wider IT team.
