CPC Qualified Transport & Fleet Manager - c£43k - £45k + Bens + Prospects

Days, 40hr week

Summary:

This is a combined role where you will manage the fleet and transport operations within the company financial and operational objectives ensuring legal compliance. You will manage both departments via 2 excellent managers & take a strong overview of the current operation whilst looking at areas to improve upon. There will be a good level of input required on various transport projects too.

Whilst it is an overseeing role this is still very much hands on & visible & so you are expected to be the face of both the transport & fleet operation.

The overall fleet is 150 & 45 active vehicle & drivers per day spread across 3 sites on multi-drop deliveries.

You will Indirectly be managing the drivers

Takea pro-active role in helping to upgrade the route planning system

Heavily involved in reviewing the move to electric vehicles

Review all aspects of vehicle maintenance, and purchasing, selling and all related aspects of relevant legislation whilst remaining safe legal and compliant.

Maintaining excellent communication to all involved.

Key Responsibilities:

Ensure that transport labour costs fall within budget and monitor through the implementation of robust control mechanisms.

Manage the department via 2 hands on managers.

Ensure all fleet overheads are contained within the monthly budgetary limits and any invoices passed speedily to the relevant Head Office department for payment

Monitor vehicle running costs and take appropriate actions when costs are above expected threshold

Ensure that customer reported damaged and missing orders are recorded and investigated with necessary corrective action taken

Ensure robust mechanisms are in place for effective management of driver payments.

Ensure that vehicles are roadworthy and serviced in accordance with company procedures and manufacturers guidelines.

Regular route reviews are carried out for effectiveness and removal of un-necessary cost

All documentation is filed in line with statutory requirements including quarterly audits

Vehicle fuel and oiling arrangements are controlled in the agreed manner

Complete monthly Fleet KPIs by agreed deadline and monitor performance. Address issues and create remedial action plans.

Investigate customer services issues, provide prompt feedback and implement remedial actions to

Ideal Candidate:

CPC Qualified with experience across Transport & fleet management.

Ideally managed a Multi fleet / multi-drop operation

Full UK driving license

An excellent understanding of great customer communications, both internal and external

Fleet Management, tracking & cost systems

Budgeting, forecasting and P&L accountability

KPI driven

Advanced MS and other software packages

Accident reduction management systems

Health and safety / Risk based training

Driver/fleet management

Claims defensibility / Contractual risk
