The Employer
A very well established privately owned SME. There is a very healthy order book, and the business continues to grow and to be profitable. As part of their future plans, they now have the opportunity for someone to join the team as a Maintenance Engineer
The role will offer a varied workload and will see you involved in reactive and preventative maintenance, service, repair and general upkeep of our production facility. This will include CNC and manual machine tools. You will also support projects which may include site extensions, improvements, the installation of new machinery etc
Day to day you will be fault finding and providing solutions to problems with components and systems including electric motors, bearings, pumps, valves, mechanical drive systems, hydraulics, cooling systems etc as well as with the building itself (heating, lighting etc)
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform preventative maintenance, repairs, and troubleshooting on a wide range of machine tools, including CNC machines, lathes, mills, and grinders.
- Ensure all machinery is functioning optimally and efficiently, reducing downtime and improving overall productivity.
- Diagnose and repair electrical, mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic faults in machinery and equipment.
- Carry out routine inspections and identify potential issues before they result in machine failures.
- Work closely with production teams to minimize disruptions and optimize machine performance.
- Assist in machine installations, modifications, and upgrades as required.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities and repairs.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and company procedures.
Requirements:
- Probable apprentice trained with a Level 3 Qualification
- Proven experience as a Maintenance Engineer with hands-on expertise in machine tool maintenance
- 18th edition and familiar with 3 phase electrics
- Knowledge of CNC machines, lathes, mills, and other machine tools.
- Strong mechanical, electrical, and fault-finding skills, including experience with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Familiarity with machine tool calibration
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
- Knowledge of preventative maintenance programs and techniques
- Experience with machine tool diagnostics and repair.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong communication skills and a proactive approach to problem-solving
- Able to work at heights up to 15 metres
- Experience of materials handling equipment including overhead cranes very beneficial
