Our client, a trusted partner of the UK's Ministry of Defence, is seeking a Mechanical Inspector to join the certification team. The role involves authorising products in accordance with the product certification procedure at the Bolton site.

What we're looking for:

  • "Approved Apprenticeship/Apprenticeship Framework/Modern Apprenticeship
  • Vocational G or H Units with Further Education, City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3" or
  • "Vocational TR23 Units with Further Education, ONC or City & Guilds Parts 1, 2 & 3" or
  • "Vocational NVQ3 with Further Education, BTEC ONC/HNC"
  • Must demonstrate a proactive approach to problem-solving and commitment to work as part of a team to deliver the business.
  • It is essential to have experience inspecting the work of others for sign off.
  • Several years of experience as a skilled person.
  • IPC 610 certified / trained preferred

What you'll get to do as a Mechanical Inspector:

The role involves certifying products according to the product certification procedure and monitoring the operators responsible for product certification. Upon inspection, the individual must check for proper assembly and inspect all parts for defects in finishing, painting, or surface deterioration. They are required to conduct thorough inspections for any physical damages and perform intermediate inspection checks unrelated to product certification. Additionally, the role includes completing manufacturing data pack paperwork and maintaining data records and defect reports. The individual must control defect items by segregating them from good products and produce relevant inspection and quality control documentation, history sheets, and audits. They are also responsible for caring for and using specialized inspection tools, ensuring compliance with all applicable manufacturing procedures, and meeting inspection times. Possessing a versatile skill set, the individual should apply it to various tasks while maintaining the highest workmanship standards and product quality, as well as adhering to good housekeeping policies. Finally, they should be willing to contribute to an environment of process improvement.

Security Clearance: British Citizen or a Dual UK national with British citizenship

Restrictions and/or limitations relating to nationality and/or rights to work may apply. As a minimum and after offer stage, all successful candidates will need to undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS), which are managed by our clients Security Team.
