Our client, a global leader in Missile and Defence and a trusted partner of the UK's Ministry of Defence, is seeking an experienced Test Development Engineer specialising in circuit card electronic testing to join their Test Equipment Design team. This is an exciting opportunity to be part of a team working on a variety of challenging yet rewarding projects, from concept design through to series production and full in-service support.

As a Test Development Engineer, you will work within an established team to create and maintain small to medium-sized automated test systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • You will be responsible for the development and implementation of test strategies and, where appropriate, influencing our product through 'Design for Test'.
  • This involves creating test strategy documents, designing Interchangeable Test Adaptors (including both mechanical and electrical elements), and developing software for automated test sequences in accordance with a test specification.
  • You will also have the opportunity to get involved with continuous improvement activities and the development of new technologies.

What do you need?:

  • Interpret and understand technical requirements and drawings to develop automated test facilities and procedures that support production operations.
  • Possess contemporary working knowledge of electronics.
  • Have a solid understanding of modern test techniques and methodologies, including ICT, Functional Test, and Boundary Scan.
  • Demonstrate experience in designing measurement systems, including the applicability of instruments, power distribution, and grounding.
  • Exhibit strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Have significant experience in creating Automated Test Equipment.
  • Preferably have experience using NI LabVIEW and/or TestStand.
  • Preferably have experience in Boundary Scan and XJtag.
