The Children’s Home Senior Support Worker (EBD) will be instrumental in leading a team of support workers in being appropriate role models to children in the home and helping meet children’s practical needs by providing support, advice, and assistance. The senior support worker will help children address their problems, concerns, and previous trauma and work with them to achieve health, well-being, and education outcomes, enabling children to reach their full potential. The Children’s Home Senior Support Worker will play a vital role in supporting the homes Deputy and Registered Manager.

Children's Residential Senior Support Worker Key Responsibilities:Â
- To undertake a lead role in ensuring high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Home Comforts Services.Â
- Ensure to work from the guidelines from the 1989 Children’s Act, Children’s Home Regulations 2015, Working Together to Safeguard Children 2023 and any other relevant legislation.
- To be responsible for the supervision of designated members of staff and to record this in supervision on the member of staff’s file.Â
- To give guidance and support to all Residential Workers. And to ensure that all staff act in a professional manner.
- To raise any concerns with the Registered Manager as appropriate.
- To support with on call responsibilities.
- To maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Home Comforts Services.Â
- To plan, manage and lead shifts ensuring children are kept safe and engaged throughout the day and to ensure that appropriate individual care is given to each child, in accordance with the Care Plans.
- To ensure education is promoted and supported and that each child’s attendance in education is maintained. Providing support for young people in their education and extracurricular activities, this may include supporting them in the classroom if necessary.
- Attending to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home etc)Â
- To ensure all policies and procedures, as well as risk assessments, are always adhered to.Â
- To ensure that all staff read the Daily Logbook / relevant online portals such as sue solutions to check all messages at the beginning of work or at any point during the working day as required.
- To ensure that all staff have written up any incident / accident forms or restraint forms as applicable and that such information is passed to the Registered Manager.
- To report immediately to the Registered Manager any issues regarding Child Protection matters.Â
- To ensure that all staff are familiar with Policies and Guidance Notes about the care of children, as well as subsequent guidance.
- To ensure that all staff always maintain confidentiality.
- To ensure that all staff under their supervision undertake and complete training in accordance with their induction training schedule and Personal Development Plan.
- To raise any concerns regarding an individual member of staff’s progress or attitude with the Registered Manager.
- To raise any serious issues or concerns directly with the Registered Manager.Â
- To attend meetings and training as required.
- To share the responsibility for creating a pleasant working environment.
- To be flexible in hours of work to meet tasks required.
- To be aware of Health and Safety regulations particularly as related to the upkeep of the building and its surroundings.
- To supervise all aspects of food hygiene in the Home to ensure that required standards are achieved.Â
- To assist in the planning of menus, assuring that special dietary requirements for children are met.
- To undertake any other duties that may be reasonably requested.
