Purchasing Managerupto £55,000 Per AnnumFull time – On-site Based in BoltonMedlock Partners are proud to be partnering with a highly reputable distribution business based in Bolton to identify an experienced Purchasing Manager to join their team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a business built on passion, skill, and creativity, that is focused on driving long-term sustainable growth.This role will report to the Purchasing Director and is crucial for enhancing supplier relationships, conduct research for improvements to supply chain reducing costs.  A proven experience in developing and executing purchasing strategies is required as well as the ability to work with a range of stakeholders across a diverse business.Key Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for the procurement and supply of raw materials and services within the Company.
  • Setting, planning, organizing and executing the Purchasing strategy, incorporating best commercial practice 
  • Lead, manage and motivate the Purchasing Team whilst at the same time setting and monitoring individual targets. T
  • Manage and oversee the Purchasing Team’s management of suppliers, relationships, and service level agreements
  • Work alongside the Finance Team to review and maintain all input costs within area of responsibility.
  • Recommend to the Sales Team, the introduction of new factored products, presenting high margin opportunities for business growth and development within the retail outlets.
  • Responsible for the negotiating, administrating and controlling purchasing contracts.
  • Control supplier payment terms by negotiation and clear management.
  • Responsible for make or buy policy analysis and presentation of clear recommendations to the Managing Director.
  • Responsible for cost saving budgeting and targeting – to monitor and prove drop-through.
  • Responsible for stock and materials management via the ERP System
Key requirements of the Purchasing Manager
  • Proven experience within a purchasing manager role
  • Ability to develop and maintain strong supplier relationships 
  • Previous experience of managing a small team, identify areas for improvement and conducting necessary 1-2-1 training
  • Previous experience of developing and executing purchasing strategies
  • A background within engineering production
  • A strong team player and communicates well at all levels
