Car Mechanic/ MOT Tester needed

Our client, a Vehicle Repairs & Services private garage, is seeking for a Car Mechanic/ MOT Tester to join their team. Master Technician without MOT licence will be considered.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide range of vehicles, as well as performing MOT (Ministry of Transport) tests in accordance with legal and safety requirements.
Role: Car Mechanic/MOT Tester
Hours: Mon to Thu 8:30am to 5pm, Fri 8:30am to 4pm ; Every other Saturday half day from 8:30am till 12:30pm
Location: Bolton
Key responsibilities:
- Conduct MOT tests on vehicles in compliance with current legislation.
- Ensure vehicles meet all necessary safety standards, including emissions, braking, suspension, and lights.
- Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and other vehicle-related issues using diagnostic tools and equipment.
- Perform vehicle repairs, maintenance, and servicing, including engine repairs, exhaust systems, brakes, suspension, steering, and more.
- Carry out routine maintenance such as oil changes, tire rotations, and brake inspections.
- Inspect and replace parts when necessary to ensure the vehicle's safe and efficient operation.
Requirements:
- be ideal to have MOT licence class 4&7, however, the company would be willing to pay for the licence
- Proven experience as a car mechanic, including experience in vehicle diagnostics and repairs.
- Knowledge of automotive systems and technologies.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Full, valid UK driving license (required).
- NVQ or City & Guilds Level 3 qualification in Vehicle Repair and Maintenance (preferred).
- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.
