Mechanical Estimator & Electrical Estimators

About the Role

We are looking for experienced Mechanical and Electrical Estimators to join our dynamic and growing team in Central Scotland. This is an exciting opportunity to lead the mechanical estimating process and contribute to the company's future by producing accurate and competitive tenders for a variety of construction projects and refurbishments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare tenders for commercial, healthcare, education, and industrial projects.
  • Perform detailed take-offs and develop estimate structures in line with project scope.
  • Interpret drawings, specifications, and schedules to create accurate cost estimates.
  • Engage with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain competitive quotations.
  • Review quotes for specification compliance and select for bid inclusion.
  • Apply labour norms to equipment and general materials to establish net costs.
  • Collaborate with design, commercial, and project teams to ensure cost-effective solutions.
  • Assess project opportunities and risks, providing value engineering options.
  • Ensure all estimates comply with company procedures and client expectations.
  • Liaise with clients and main contractors as required, both pre- and post-tender.
  • Contribute to business development by identifying new opportunities.
  • Support bid strategies and tender presentations.

Qualifications

  • A craft apprenticeship background with an HNC/D qualification in a mechanical or electrical discipline.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical or electrical estimating within the building services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical systems.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Experience with estimating software for on-screen take-offs.
  • Excellent analytical, negotiation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple tenders and meet tight deadlines.
  • Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail.
