Transport Operator (Nights)

Full time, Permanent (Based in Liverpool)

We've got an exciting opportunity for a Transport Operator to join our Transport office in Liverpool, specifically covering night shifts. They will play a key part in the daily and weekly route planning for vehicles and drivers effectively within budgetary and legal constraints.

How you will help us and what you can expect

  • Adhering to MSC’s planning times lines working closely with the central intermodal department.
  • Process incoming calls and enquiries from customers and amend transport plan & routes as appropriate.
  • Brief drivers and liaise with them to ensure effective delivery / collections and route changes.
  • Monitor legal compliance including EU drivers’ hours, digital tachographs and WTD.
  • Achieving set KPI targets set out by the company.
  • Maintain MEDLOG’s core values and fully support the Transport team.
  • Daily planning and routing of vehicles in a compliant and cost-efficient manner
  • Adhere to MSC Intermodal departments planning timeframes.
  • Respond and assist with customer queries / issues / requirements.
  • Interaction with Port systems and Destin8 to book vehicles on/off Ports
  • Regular communication with the operators and drivers
  • Maintain relationship and communication with Central Intermodal function in Ipswich.
  • Plan trucks and trailers to be available for service/inspection as advised by the Fleet Department

Skills and experience you'll bring to us

  • Container haulage / route planning skills
  • Geographical knowledge of UK Port infrastructure
  • Knowledge of Drivers Hours and WTD Legislation (Desirable)
  • Be able to operate systems such as Truckcom, Destin8 and Port VBS systems.
  • Ability to address and resolve day-to-day transport related issues with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Proactive and forward thinking
  • Clear communicator – written and verbal.
  • Computer literate
  • Strong administration skills
