We are recruiting for a Travel Support Assistant to join an established team supporting Children's and SEND transport services.

Start date: 21/10/24

End date: 31/01/2025

Hours per week: 36 hours per week. Monday-Friday

Salary: £16.00 per hour

The Role

The Travel Support Team administers and delivers the SEND element of the Home to School Travel Support Policy on behalf of the Council. This includes assessment, offer, and delivery of the offer, review and advice on the policy. As part of this role the team is responsible for a framework with bus and taxi operators and also provides transport support for other Council Services including Adult Social Care providing transport to day centres, buses for trips to swimming baths, support for transporting looked after children and buses for services such as planning when undertaking site visits.

As one of the Assistant Travel Support Officers in the team you will support the delivery of the service, including handling enquiries from the public, clients and contractors, processing requests for support and accurately recording case work activity according to policy and procedure.

You will be working with internal and external partners in order to complete assessments of eligibility, need and the clients journey requirements.

You will support the commissioning and delivery of the clients travel solution.

You will be working with young people across the borough to provide practical support to enable them to travel independently by public transport, walking or cycling.

You will have excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate both verbally and in writing with a wide range of people in professional and community settings.

You will have experience in collecting, recording, maintaining data and the ability to work independently and in an organised manner.
