Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Design and Technology Technician to join a dynamic educational team on a short-term contract with an immediate start. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in supporting the DT department by managing equipment, assisting in practical lessons, and ensuring a safe and efficient working environment.
Key Responsibilities:
Equipment and Resource Management: Oversee the maintenance and organization of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment. Ensure all tools are in good working condition and ready for use.
Health and Safety Compliance: Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to uphold health and safety standards. Address any issues promptly and liaise with relevant staff for repairs or replacements.
Technical Support: Provide technical assistance and guidance to both staff and students during practical sessions. Prepare and set up equipment for lessons, ensuring all materials are available and functional.
Workshop Maintenance: Maintain a clean and organised workshop environment. Perform routine cleaning and tidying of workspaces, including specialised areas such as the food room.
Inventory Management: Monitor and manage stock levels of materials and supplies. Assist in ordering new materials as necessary and keep accurate records of inventory.
Essential Qualifications and Skills:
Experience in a technical support role, preferably within a design and technology or educational setting.
Strong knowledge of workshop tools, machinery, and equipment maintenance.
Understanding of health and safety regulations related to workshop environments.
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
