Your new companyHays are working with a leading global provider of integrated facilities and corporate real estate management. We are recruiting a Multi Skilled Engineer to join the team located in Elstree/Borehamwood on a temporary basisThe successful candidate will perform Electrical and Mechanical Maintenance to Plant, Equipment and Building Services.Your new role

  • Identify and manage risks to the client through on-site equipment, including updating drawings, identifying critical spares, and improving machinery performance.
  • Implement and enhance the preventative maintenance program.
  • Utilise new equipment and technologies to maintain a productive environment, liaising with clients on machinery PPM requests.
  • Perform fault-finding on various types of machinery.
  • Support departmental health and safety initiatives.
  • Provide electrical and mechanical expertise for heavy industrial machines and overhead cranes.
  • Write and follow risk assessments, addressing any issues arising safely and accurately.
  • Complete required documentation in compliance with all rules and legislation.
  • Work on three-phase systems with voltages up to 440V.
  • Maintain motors, gearboxes, and valves, including hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
  • Use mobile devices to project and complete tasks from the CAFM maintenance system.
  • Plan daily work requirements using email and calendars to ensure efficient task completion.
  • Liaise with on-site services to manage building-related issues confidently and accurately.
  • Work overtime as needed, including nights and weekends, sometimes at short notice.
  • Perform ad hoc duties as required.

What you'll need to succeed

  • Recognised or time-served apprenticeship.
  • Strong experience in manufacturing maintenance.
  • Electrical competencies/qualifications equivalent to City and Guilds 236 Pt 1-2, 18th Edition.
  • Mechanical competencies/qualifications to City and Guilds standards.
  • Multi-skilled ability.
  • Experience with three-phase motors, drives, and inverters.
  • Hydraulic/pneumatic experience.
  • Fault-finding skills.
  • PLC diagnostics/repair competencies.
  • NVQ Level 2 qualifications in electrical and mechanical fields.
  • Ability to supervise contractors.
  • Proficiency in writing risk and method statements.
  • Understanding and writing permits.
