Job OverviewWe are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Credit Controller to join our finance team in a fast-paced business. As part of a team of three, the ideal candidate will be responsible for managing and maintaining the company’s credit and collections process, ensuring timely payments, reducing outstanding debts, and maintaining positive relationships with clients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor and manage the part of the company’s advertising & events debtor ledger, ensuring timely collection of outstanding invoices.
  • Assess credit worthiness of new and existing clients by analysing financial data and credit reports.
  • Implement and enforce credit control policies and procedures to minimise financial risk.
  • Chase outstanding payments through phone calls, emails, and written correspondence.
  • Resolve billing disputes and queries efficiently to facilitate prompt payment.
  • Negotiate payment plans and credit terms with clients where necessary.
  • Maintain accurate records of all credit control activities, updating systems accordingly.
  • Collaborate with internal teams, including sales and finance, to ensure smooth payment processes.

Skills & Experience Required

  • Proven experience as a Credit Controller or in a similar credit management role.
  • Strong knowledge of credit control processes and accounting principles.
  • Excellent communication and negotiation skills with a customer-focused approach.
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy in managing financial records.
  • Proficiency in using accounting software and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to handle difficult conversations professionally.
  • Knowledge of media industry billing structures and revenue models is a plus.
  • Certification in Credit Management (CICM or equivalent) is an advantage.
