Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young learners? GSL Education are on the lookout for enthusiastic graduates to work as a Trainee Teacher in a local school based in Bournemouth.

About the School:
The school is a special school for children aged 5-11 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties, often linked to special educational needs such as autism. Also, supports students with Educational Health Care Plans. The classes typically have seven pupils each, supported by high staffing levels. Facilities include purpose-built classrooms, a sensory room, therapy hub, quiet rooms, food technology kitchen, creative learning room, sports hall, outdoor play areas, a large playground, an outdoor learning area, and a courtyard garden. The school fosters a calm and nurturing environment with a focus on resilience, safety, and respect. It follows the National Curriculum with a traditional primary school timetable, adapted to meet the needs of its pupils.

About the Role:
As a Trainee Teacher, you will support the experienced teachers in delivering engaging lessons and receiving excellent teacher training for your future career in education.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in planning, preparing, and delivering lessons.
  • Support individual students or small groups to help them succeed.
  • Manage classroom behaviour and create a positive, engaging learning environment.
  • Observe and learn from experienced teachers, receiving constructive feedback.
  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and school activities.
  • Help with student assessments and provide feedback to aid their development.
  • Adhere to school policies and contribute to safeguarding procedures.

  • A genuine passion for working with young people and helping them succeed.
  • Strong communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanour.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop your teaching skills.
  • A relevant degree or equivalent (or in the process of completing one).
  • No prior teaching experience is necessary - we are looking for enthusiastic individuals with a genuine interest in education.
