Are you passionate about education and eager to make a difference in young lives? A fantastic opportunity awaits you as GSL Education are currently seeking a cover supervisor for a local primary SEMH school based in Bournemouth.
About the School:
The school is a special school for children aged 5-11 with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health difficulties, often linked to special educational needs such as autism. Also, supports students with Educational Health Care Plans. The classes typically have seven pupils each, supported by high staffing levels. Facilities include purpose-built classrooms, a sensory room, therapy hub, quiet rooms, food technology kitchen, creative learning room, sports hall, outdoor play areas, a large playground, an outdoor learning area, and a courtyard garden. The school fosters a calm and nurturing environment with a focus on resilience, safety, and respect. It follows the National Curriculum with a traditional primary school timetable, adapted to meet the needs of its pupils.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll play a pivotal role in maintaining the continuity of learning in the absence of teachers. Your duties will include overseeing classes, ensuring a positive learning environment, and managing student behaviour. This role offers a great chance to gain valuable experience in education and make a real impact on the educational journey of our students.
Responsibilities:
- Take responsibility for supervising classes during teacher absence, ensuring that learning objectives are met, and students remain engaged.
- Provide support to students in their learning by delivering pre-prepared lessons and activities as directed by teaching staff.
- Maintain discipline and manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies, fostering a respectful and inclusive environment for all students.
- Assist with administrative duties such as registering attendance, distributing and collecting materials, and maintaining classroom resources.
- Work collaboratively with teaching staff to ensure the smooth running of the school day and the effective delivery of the curriculum.
Requirements:
- Have experience in an educational setting or equivalent.
- Be an effective communicator when delivering instructions.
- Possess strong behavioural management skills.
- Be able to motivate students to reach their potential.
- Have a good level of general education.
