Your Role:

As a key member of the team, you will collaborate closely with the head of development and work alongside their talented development team.

Your primary focus will be on ensuring the stability, scalability, and satisfaction of their clients through the software solutions that you provide.

You will take ownership of development projects with typical durations of 9-12 months, engaging directly with clients to understand and address their challenges effectively. You will also be required to join the team to attend client meetings at their premises on occasion.

Responsibilities:

  • Take ownership of development projects, ensuring stability, scalability, and client satisfaction, from a technical perspective.
  • Collaborate with clients to understand their business needs and develop tailored solutions.
  • Present project updates to clients and actively engage with them to solve challenges.
  • Plan, organise, and execute tasks independently and as part of a team.

Essential skills:

  • Commercial experience with PHP and MVC frameworks: 5+ years
  • Understanding of fundamental software design principles behind building extensible codebases
  • Proficient in automated unit and feature testing using PHP testing libraries such as PHPUnit
  • Experience building scalable web applications
  • Understanding of web application security principles
  • Strong familiarity with relational databases such as MySQL
  • Strong SQL understanding, for building complex queries and reports
  • Experience in integrating with third-party APIs (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML)
  • Experienced in using GIT
  • Good experience doing requirements gathering from customers, to define scopes of work and acceptance criteria
  • Can take ownership of a project from scratch
  • Mentoring junior developers on the team

Desirable skills:

  • Familiarity with Laravel
  • Familiarity with frontend development (VueJS or similar)
  • Exposure to Static Analysis (such as PHPStan)
  • Exposure to CI/CD pipelines such as Jenkins or GitHub Actions
  • Proficient understanding of hosting web applications on AWS
  • Familiarity with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap & TailwindCSS
  • Building complex reports for business
  • Background in e-commerce development
  • OAuth authentication
