Are you looking for a job as a caretaker? GSL Education are seeking an experienced and dedicated school Caretaker to join a local school in Bournemouth. If you have a passion for maintaining a safe and nurturing environment for students and possess strong organisational skills, this role may be perfect for you.

The school is looking for a competent individual to manage security and maintenance in school sites, handle various physical duties, and inspire excellence by aligning with the schools' vision and values. This role also includes contributing to the schools' development and ensuring the safety and well-being of students according to safeguarding policies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the maintenance and security of school premises, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for students, staff, and visitors.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks including cleaning, minor repairs, and upkeep of school equipment and facilities.
  • Supervise a small team of support staff, such as cleaners and maintenance personnel, ensuring tasks are completed efficiently and to a high standard.
  • Implement and maintain health and safety protocols, conduct regular inspections, and address potential hazards promptly.
  • Act as the point of contact for emergencies, addressing issues such as fire alarms, heating failures, and security breaches.
  • Liaise with school staff, contractors, and external agencies to coordinate maintenance and repair work with minimal disruption to the learning environment.
  • Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, expenditures, and equipment inventory.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience as a School Caretaker or in a role within a similar setting.
  • Strong organisational and leadership skills with the ability to manage a team effectively.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations and the ability to implement them.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proactive and problem-solving attitude.
