About the School:
The school seeks an enthusiastic individual to embark on a career in special education, supporting vulnerable young people of Key Stage 1 and 2 with social, emotional, and mental health needs. The role involves assisting teachers in class small classroom setting, focusing on their learning, wellbeing, and behaviour. Training and induction programs are provided to nurture growth and success, making this an ideal opportunity for someone with drive but lacking experience. The successful candidate will thrive in a supportive, team-oriented environment and possess resilience, interpersonal skills, and a sense of humour.

About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will have a range of responsibilities aimed at supporting the learning, wellbeing, and positive behaviour of our pupils with Social, Emotional, and Mental Health needs.

Your duties will include:

  • Support classroom activities under the teacher's guidance.
  • Assist students with learning tasks and ensure comprehension.
  • Foster positive relationships and encourage student wellbeing.
  • Implement behaviour management strategies.
  • Maintain a tidy and organised classroom environment.
  • Provide individualised support to students with specific needs.
  • Keep accurate records of student progress and behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers and support staff.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues and parents.

Ideal Candidate: GSL Education are seeking a compassionate and adaptable individual with the following qualities:

  • A deep comprehension of the diverse needs associated with Mental Health, Anxiety, and Behaviour.
  • An ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the unique requirements of individual students, particularly those facing mental health challenges.
  • A patient and understanding approach, when facing challenging behaviour.
  • A proactive and open mindset, working in a multidisciplinary team.
