Job Title: Senior Town Planner

Location: Bournemouth

Penguin recruitment is delighted to be supporting a well-established planning consultancy in Bournemouth who is seeing a Senior Town Planner to join the team. This is an excellent opportunity to work on a variety of exciting and challenging projects, ranging from residential to commercial and mixed-use developments.

About the Role:

As a Senior Town Planner, you will be responsible for managing complex planning applications and appeals, delivering strategic advice, and ensuring the successful delivery of projects. You will have the opportunity to work closely with clients and stakeholders, providing high-quality planning solutions and contributing to the growth and success of the consultancy.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Managing a diverse range of planning projects from initial consultation through to completion.
  • Preparing, submitting, and managing planning applications and appeals.
  • Conducting site appraisals and offering strategic planning guidance.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, local authorities, and stakeholders.
  • Mentoring and providing guidance to junior planners.
  • Keeping up to date with planning legislation and policy changes.

About You:

  • Qualifications: A degree in Town Planning or a related field and full membership with the RTPI (or working towards it).
  • Experience: Proven experience in planning, preferably within a consultancy or local authority environment.
  • Skills: Excellent communication, negotiation, and project management skills, with the ability to handle multiple tasks efficiently.
  • Knowledge: A strong understanding of UK planning policy and the ability to navigate complex planning matters confidently.
