ASC Experienced HLTA-  BH1 1HF Bournemouth

A large secondary school Bournemouth with an ASC resource base is looking for staff to work in and help with the running of the resource base. The base will consist of a SEND teacher and 3 specially trained teaching assistants. There is a low pupil to adult ratio, ensuring individual children’s needs are met. Experience working with children with Autism is essential. The school has good public transport links, and a range of local amenities close by.

You will be working in the ASC resource base, supporting students work towards individual developmental targets. Some of the work will be one-to-one and some will be with small groups. You will mentor some less experienced TAs and support their professional development using a coaching approach.

Main responsibilities

  • Work under the guidance of the resource base lead teacher
  • Provide highly effective support for students
  • Assist with planning and resourcing
  • Model effective teaching techniques
  • Provide support and guidance to support staff professional development

Essential Criteria/Skills

  • HLTA qualification
  • Very good level of spoken and written English
  • Previous experience working with individuals with SEN/Autism/Complex Needs/SEMH is desirable
  • Have a right to work in the UK (A Valid Visa)
  • At least one recent child-based reference and relevant DBS/ Police checks.

Desirable Criteria

  • Previous experience working with children who have SEND/SEMH needs
  • SEND/ Education qualification 
  • Mentoring/Coaching experience
