Job Title: Housing Options Officer - Offender Specialist

Location: Bournemouth

Hours Per Week: 37 Hours

Rate of Pay: 21 P/H (Umbrella)

Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole Council are currently looking for an experienced Housing Options Officer to join their team. This role is catered to ensuring an improvement in the quality of life of ex-offenders by helping people to resolve their housing circumstances.

Main Duties:

  • Provide housing advice and support to individuals in the criminal justice system, particularly those involved with Probation Services, ensuring compliance with the Homelessness Reduction Act.
  • Assess and determine eligibility, housing needs, and support for applicants facing homelessness, making decisions in line with legal requirements and council policies.
  • Manage a caseload, offering person-centred housing options advice, and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to address complex needs such as mental health, substance misuse, and domestic abuse.
  • Lead multi-agency case meetings and develop strong relationships with housing providers to prevent homelessness and promote effective solutions.

The Candidate Will Have:

  • Significant experience in providing housing advice to vulnerable individuals, including offenders.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and apply relevant housing legislation, with experience in multi-agency working.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage challenging behaviours and solve problems in a fast-paced environment.
