Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Housing Options Officer to join a dynamic housing team within a well-established local authority. This role involves providing comprehensive technical advice and support to individuals with a range of complex housing support needs, often requiring a multi-agency partnership approach. You will ensure that the housing needs of individuals are thoroughly assessed and met by offering professional, specialist advice and expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide specialist knowledge, expertise, and advice to the Housing Options Team on diverse housing practices, reviews, and processes through effective coordination of customer demands.
  • Manage a team of Housing Options staff delivering both statutory and non-statutory homelessness services.
  • Support the team in making complex decisions, applying professional judgment in accordance with relevant legislation.
  • Work in multi-agency settings, fostering strong relationships and developing interventions with various partners to prevent homelessness, particularly in complex and sensitive cases.
  • Serve as the lead practitioner and representative for the service in a range of multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Ensure compliance with all decisions, policies, and standing orders of the local authority and relevant statutory requirements, including the Equality Act, Health and Safety at Work Act, and Data Protection Act.

Essential:

  • Significant experience in housing services, including providing advice on complex and contentious housing matters.
  • Proven track record in delivering customer-focused services within a multi-agency environment.
  • Demonstrated success in providing a high-performing service with effective employee engagement.
  • Educated to Degree level or equivalent.
