- Implement the software test life cycle: This process is used to test software and ensure that quality standards are met. It includes test analysis and design, test estimation, test planning and approach, test execution, defect management, and reporting.
- Test analysis and design: Reads through the stories to understand the requirements and writes tests (manual and automation) against stories. Tests are written to consider system integrations.Â

- Test estimation: Contributes to test estimation sessions by providing estimates relevant to their assigned work.
- Test planning and approach: Clearly defines pieces of work and plans their own testing. Contributes to overall test plan and approach for assigned projects.
- Test execution: Runs tests as required. Actively removes blockers and escalates where needed.
- Defect management: Identifies and raises defects to the agreed standard. Retests once fixed. Closes assigned defects once resolved.
- Reporting: Produces reports as required in relation to their assigned work and the project phase. This includes preparation progress updates; test execution progress; defects etc. This may also include contributing to overall project reports in line with their assigned work.
- Adhere to testing standards: adhering to the Group test strategy that defines the required testing standards and practices.
- Uses the Vitality testing processes and standards independently and competently in all work.Â
- Provides guidance to associate test engineers in the adherence to these standards.
- Undertakes required updates to test artefacts in line with the agreed process and definition of “done” and “ready”.Â
- Engage stakeholders. Work with stakeholders to develop an understanding of the needs and requirements of both internal and external stakeholders in order to achieve the desired outcomes.
- Engage internal stakeholders independently, working across a number of teams, and acting as a resource for colleagues with less experience.
- Facilitate meetings and consult stakeholders to understand their needs and requirements and plan, design and execute tests in line with the agreed solution/s.
- Build and transfer skills and knowledge. Take responsibility for developing personal skills and expertise aligned to role, encourage and coach Test engineers to build a competent team.
- Fully competent and working independently within the framework of Vitality’s modern technology platform (e.g., Micro Services)
- Working knowledge of test automation and are developing a working knowledge of one other specialism. They are competent and work independently in their assigned coding language/s..
- actively use test management tools competently and are increasing their skills in Selenium or Playwright, and C# and SpecFlow.
- ISTQB certified tester foundation level.
- Working towards relevant accreditation / certification.
