The School and Role

An SEN school based in Bournemouth is currently seeking an SEN Teaching Assistant to start as soon as possible. The school provides a nurturing and inclusive environment for students with complex needs and disabilities, from Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) to Post 16. 

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) who will work closely with our teaching staff and support students with a range of needs, including learning difficulties, physical disabilities, and emotional challenges. Your role will be vital in fostering an inclusive educational environment and ensuring that each child receives the individual support they require.

Requirements 

  • Experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • You will need to have Maths and English GCSE (or equivalent) Grades C or above or Grades 4 – 9.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to build effective relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude towards supporting children with diverse needs.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and adapt to different situations.

Whilst previous experience of working with children and young people with learning difficulties and/or social communication difficulties is desirable but not essential. We will also consider applicants with experience in care, sports coaching, mental health support, or similar roles with transferrable skills.
