SEN Teaching Assistant – Mainstream Primary School in Bournemouth

GSL Education are delighted to be working with a fantastic primary school in Bournemouth to recruit an enthusiastic and dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant. This is an incredible opportunity for someone passionate about supporting young learners and making a difference in their educational journey.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your role will be to support children with special educational needs, enabling them to access the curriculum and develop to their full potential. You will work closely with the class teacher and other staff members to create an inclusive learning environment, offering both academic and emotional support to students in need.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with special educational needs.
  • Assist with the delivery of tailored learning plans to support each student’s unique requirements.
  • Help implement strategies to promote engagement, learning, and well-being for students with a variety of needs.
  • Work collaboratively with the SENCo (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and teaching staff to monitor student progress and adapt support where necessary.

What we’re looking for:

  • Experience working with children with special educational needs, particularly within a primary school setting (although other experience in education or care will also be considered).
  • A nurturing and patient approach with a genuine desire to help children overcome barriers to learning.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, parents, and colleagues.
  • A proactive, team-oriented individual who can adapt to changing needs and priorities.
