Job Advert: CNC Turner (Mazak) - 2 Shift Pattern
Location: Durham
Salary: £17.00 - £20.00 per hour (DOE) + 20% shift allowance
Hours: 2 Shift Pattern (36.33 hours per week)
Overtime: 1.5x standard rate, frequently available
We are currently seeking an experienced CNC Turner (Mazak) to join our client’s team based in Durham. This is a fantastic opportunity to work with cutting-edge equipment and be part of a well-established company that promotes a flexible working environment.
Key Responsibilities:- Programme, set, and operate Mazak CNC Lathes (18” and 10” chuck, none barfeed).
- Produce high-quality components, mainly from billet workpieces, to fine tolerances.
- Select appropriate tooling and inspect own work to ensure adherence to tight tolerances (+/- 0.01 to +/- 0.25mm).
- Work independently on technical products with minimal supervision.
- Maintain safety standards and adhere to company safety policies.
- Complete necessary daily documentation, including time sheets.
- Time-served CNC Turner with at least 5+ years of experience in billet work.
- Strong knowledge and hands-on experience with Mazak CNC Lathes.
- Ability to programme at the machine control and read engineering drawings.
- Familiarity with cutting a range of materials including steel, stainless steel, and superalloys.
- Ability to work flexibly, including shifts and overtime.
- Strong communication skills and a solid engineering background.
- Alternating shifts:
Early Shift: 6am – 2pm (Mon-Thurs), 6am – 12pm (Fri).
Late Shift: 2pm – 11:25pm (Mon-Thurs). - 36.33 hours per week.
- Negotiable hourly rate: £17.00 - £20.00 depending on experience.
- 20% shift allowance.
- 1.5x overtime rate, available most weeks.
- 4% company pension scheme.
- 5 weeks paid holiday plus 8 bank holidays.
