The General Practice Semi-Senior role:

As a General Practice Semi-Senior, you will be taking on a variety of responsibilities that will allow you to showcase your expertise in financial reporting and accounts preparation. You'll be involved in everything from preparing financial statements to liaising with clients and offering valuable insight on financial matters.

  • Prepare financial statements in accordance with financial reporting standards, from source documents to final accounts, ready for review by the manager
  • Prepare accounting schedules to support balances and transactions in the financial statements
  • Adhere to and promote high accounting standards
  • Manage a diverse range of accounts, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget
  • Work directly with clients (or through the relevant manager) to resolve queries and maintain excellent relationships
  • Keep clients' expectations at the forefront of everything you do
  • Ensure that hours worked are recorded correctly and efficiently
  • Provide insights and recommendations on accounting matters, financial reporting, and systems

Additional responsibilities:

  • Support bookkeeping and VAT return preparation
  • Prepare reconciliations and month-end procedures
  • Assist in the preparation of quarterly management accounts for clients

The ideal General Practice Semi-Senior candidate:

We are looking for someone who is passionate about accountancy and eager to develop in their career. If you have the following skills and experience, we want to hear from you!

  • AAT Level 3 or 4, ACCA or ACA studier
  • At least 2 years of practice experience
  • Strong accounts preparation knowledge and double-entry skills
  • Experience with cloud-based accounting systems such as Sage, Xero, or QuickBooks
  • Intermediate IT skills (Word, Excel, and Outlook) for producing documents and spreadsheets
  • Excellent communication skills - both written and verbal
  • Basic tax knowledge (including tax computations, PAYE, VAT)
  • High attention to detail and accuracy
  • Strong organisational and time management skills
  • Confidence in dealing with clients and offering valuable insight
  • A logical, methodical thinker who is proactive and solution-oriented
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines and manage competing priorities
  • A team player who enjoys collaborating and supporting colleagues
