Role Overview: My client is looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team working on HS2, the largest ongoing project in the UK. They are currently seeking a motivated Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their commercial team in the Buckinghamshire area. In this role, you will be responsible for carrying out tasks independently, occasionally leading a small group of commercial staff. Your expertise will be instrumental in ensuring the successful delivery of projects, meeting deadlines, and maintaining high standards of commercial performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Independently carry out both periodical duties and one-off tasks within specified deadlines, as directed by the senior Commercial team.
  • Prepare and agree variation accounts for main contracts and sub-contracts.
  • Monitor costs against targets and track contract progress against accepted programmes and work plans, collaborating with other team disciplines.
  • Provide input into change control procedures for extensions of time (EOT), delays, and performance adjustments.
  • Prepare and agree interim valuations, final valuations, final accounts, and sub-contract final accounts.
  • Prepare and issue certification and payment of subcontractors.
  • Offer contractual advice to management to ensure compliance with contract and legal administration obligations, including timely issuance of relevant notices.
  • Negotiate and progress the resolution of disputes.
  • Identify potential commercial risks and evaluate options for their control and management.

About the Candidate:

  • Qualified with a degree in Quantity Surveying or a related field.
  • Enrolled in, or seeking membership of, a relevant professional institution (CICES, RICS, or similar).
  • Proven experience at Quantity Surveyor level, demonstrating the ability to deliver positive commercial outcomes for associated projects.
  • Strong mentoring skills, with the ability to listen, learn, and integrate new concepts while guiding junior team members.
