Application Engineer – Power Semiconductors

Location – Bracknell

Salary: c£35,000

Are you an ambitious Power Electronics Engineer with a passion for high-voltage, high-current semiconductor applications? Do you enjoy solving complex technical challenges and working closely with customers to develop innovative solutions?

We’re looking for an Application Engineer to join our European Power Semiconductor Group at our client . This role offers the opportunity to provide expert technical support, contribute to cutting-edge research, and help drive the success of our advanced semiconductor solutions.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Support & Technical Expertise

Provide in-depth technical support to customers, ensuring seamless integration of our products into their systems.

Conduct testing, simulation, and analysis in the European Power Lab to assist customers and colleagues.

Develop strong professional relationships with customer engineers to establish Minebea as a trusted semiconductor partner.

  • Research & Product Development

Work closely with R&D teams to stay ahead of emerging technologies and support the development of new power semiconductor products.

Contribute to the development of new test, simulation, and analysis capabilities in the European Power Lab, positioning it as a global centre of excellence.

Support and contribute to technical publications, papers, and conference presentations to showcase Minebea’s industry leadership.

  • Sales & Market Support

Collaborate with sales and marketing teams, providing technical expertise to maximize sales opportunities.

Assist in trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings to support business growth.

What We’re Looking For:

  • A Master’s degree (or equivalent experience) in Electrical Engineering, Power Electronics, or a related field.
  • Strong knowledge of high-power semiconductor applications, including IGBT and MOSFET-based power converters.
  • Experience with power electronics simulation tools (SPICE, PLECs, MATLAB preferred).
  • Excellent technical writing and communication skills; experience publishing technical papers is a plus.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office; familiarity with LabVIEW, Python, and SQL is beneficial.
  • Strong problem-solving mindset and ability to work across diverse teams and cultures.
