1) Intro

Are you an experienced Credit Assessment Specialist with a background in the motor trade or related industry? We are looking for a skilled professional to join our client’s financial services team in Bracknell on a 6-month contract. This is an exciting opportunity to apply your expertise in credit assessments, ensuring business operations and customer satisfaction are maintained at the highest standard.

2) The Role

As a Credit Assessment Specialist, your role will involve assessing customer finance applications with a focus on compliance, accuracy, and responsible lending.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Credit Assessment: Assess 100+ applications per day, using a scorecard-based system and credit reference data for balances over £40K.
  • Customer Affordability: Review open banking data to ensure customers can afford monthly commitments.
  • Fraud & Financial Crime Prevention: Identify potential fraud and investigate further, raising AML and CIFAS reports when necessary.
  • Sanctions & PEPs: Review applications involving sanctioned individuals or PEPs, ensuring legal compliance.
  • Collaboration: Provide support to end users and Area Operations Managers, resolving queries related to credit assessments.

3) About You

To succeed in this role, you will have significant experience in credit assessment or underwriting, ideally in the motor finance industry. You’ll need to be detail-oriented, with a strong understanding of responsible lending and regulatory requirements.

Skills & Experience:

  • Required:
    • Experience as a credit assessor in motor finance or a related field.
    • Knowledge of enhanced due diligence, particularly around PEPs and sanctions.
    • Strong decision-making skills and attention to detail.
  • Desirable:
    • Experience with large finance applications over £40K.
    • Familiarity with FCA regulatory sourcebook (CONC).
    • Strong communication and numeracy skills.

This role offers a competitive daily rate of £150 (equivalent to £39K annually), providing you the chance to develop your credit assessment skills in a dynamic environment.

Additional Benefits:

  • Flexible Working: Up to 50% remote working per month, subject to business needs.
  • Working Hours: 35 hours per week, Monday to Friday, with 1 in 4 Saturdays (day off in lieu).
