About the Role:

I'm currently supporting an exciting, fast-paced FMCG business on their recruitment of an experienced Credit Controller to join their growing finance team. The primary focus of the role will be managing customer accounts, contacting customers to ensure timely payment of outstanding debt, and maintaining accurate financial records. You will play a crucial part in supporting the business's cash flow and ensuring credit policies are adhered to. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with other departments to resolve queries and contribute to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage the sales ledger, track payment terms, and monitor credit limits.

  • Proactively contact customers via phone and email to chase outstanding invoices.

  • Reconcile customer accounts and ensure accurate record-keeping.

  • Assess and approve customer orders for release based on credit terms and limits.

  • Perform credit checks on new customers and set up customer accounts.

  • Resolve customer queries efficiently by providing copy invoices, proof of delivery notes, and credit notes.

  • Collaborate with internal departments, including Sales, Customer Service, and Finance, to escalate and resolve issues.

  • Process and allocate credit card payments accurately.

  • Prepare and submit weekly aged debt reports and other relevant financial reports to management.

  • Provide recommendations for account suspensions or legal action if necessary.

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of communications with customers.

  • Support the finance team in month-end and year-end processes.

  • Identify opportunities for process improvements in credit control procedures.

Requirements:

  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to build relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.

  • Proven experience in credit control (2+ years)

  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.

  • High attention to detail and accuracy.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Strong Excel skills

  • Experience with SAP or similar ERP systems is highly advantageous.

  • Problem-solving skills and a proactive approach to resolving issues.
