What does the role involve?
As a Teaching Assistant, your role will be to support students who have been identified as requiring some additional support in the classroom. This could be for a range of reasons, including but not limited to ADHD, ASC, OCD, PMLD, MLD or other additional needs. You will be supporting them in lessons led by their usual class teacher to sure their safety and continues access to learning.
You will be assisting in the development of appropriate resources and adapting lesson materials to best support those young people in understanding the content of the lesson. You will be working with the teacher to ensure the school is best supporting those that require it or hold an Educational Heath Care Plan. You will be working either on a 1:1 basis or within small groups of students, leading groups sessions and interventions as required.
You will be supporting the teacher in conducting assessments of the students that you are supporting through agreed upon activities and feeding back to the teacher on student achievement, progress, and ongoing needs.
Who would this role be suitable for?
This role would suit someone who has experience as a Teaching Assistant, is engaging and positive in the classroom, and is able to establish and maintain relationships with a range students. You will have experience in managing and being responsible your own workload throughout the day.
