About the role:
Are you a methodical problem-solver with a passion for instruments or metrology? We are looking for a Calibration Technician to join our Built Environment Solutions team. In this role, you'll play a vital part in ensuring precision and quality by calibrating and maintaining a variety of measuring and recording instruments in a dynamic laboratory environment.
In our team you will test, calibrate, operate and repair electrical, mechanical, electromechanical, electrohydraulic, or electronic measuring and recording instruments, apparatus, and equipment in use within the Instrument Solutions laboratory.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- The conduct of traceable & UKAS accredited calibrations under ISO 9001 & BS EN ISO/IEC 17025 quality systems, respectively (following training) on BSRIA Hire instruments and customer's instruments.
- Packaging and preparing Instruments ready for hires and perform return checks.
- Keeping accurate record of data in company's software system and generate calibration certificates.
- Maintaining a Clean and Safe working environment for all lab users.
- Identifying instrument faults and perform minor repairs / replacements, as required.
- Work in a team promoting equality, diversity, and inclusion.
- Manage personal and professional development.
- Help in maintaining a healthy stock of consumables and Instrument spares.
- Any other duties commensurate with the role.
About you:
- Experience of working in an instrument laboratory to ISO 9001 or ISO17025 (preferable, as full training will be provided).
- Methodical with a practical ability including diagnostic skills (essential). A good communicator with keen interest in Instruments or Metrology (essential).
- Numerate and literate as the work involves rudimentary calculations and a significant number of written materials (essential).
- PC literate with a working knowledge of Microsoft software packages (essential).
- Ability to work unsupervised to meet deadlines (essential). Ability to work in fast paced environment (essential).
BTEC in Mechanical / Electrical Engineering or similar is desirable.
