An exciting opportunity has arisen for a seasoned Credit Assessment Manager to lead a pivotal team within the consumer finance sector. This role is ideal for a professional with substantial credit assessment experience, preferably in automotive finance or broader financial services, who possesses a deep understanding of financial regulations, notably CONC and Consumer Duty. The successful candidate will combine strong leadership skills with a strategic mindset to enhance service delivery and build a robust Quality Assurance (QA) framework across key functions.

Role:

This position requires a leader who can drive improvements in credit assessment processes, dealer call handling, and policy adherence while ensuring compliance with industry regulations. A key focus will be on developing and embedding a comprehensive QA framework to support service excellence and regulatory alignment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead and develop a high-performing team, ensuring exceptional service delivery to customers and dealers while maintaining full compliance with financial regulations.
  • Oversee credit assessment processes, ensuring timely, accurate decisions aligned with policy and affordability criteria, meeting SLAs across all channels.
  • Develop and implement a comprehensive QA framework covering all departmental functions, with a particular focus on credit assessments and dealer call handling.
  • Drive dealer call handling initiatives, enhancing communication and ensuring consistent policy adherence to improve retailer relationships and customer outcomes.
  • Foster a culture of integrity and customer-centricity, ensuring service delivery meets Consumer Duty requirements and regulatory expectations.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to identify areas for improvement, implement best practices, and enhance operational efficiency using Total Quality Management (TQM) principles.
  • Deliver regular performance reporting and lead ad hoc projects focused on continuous improvement and service optimisation.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Extensive credit assessment experience, ideally within automotive finance or the broader financial services sector.
  • Strong knowledge of financial regulations, particularly in consumer finance, with a focus on policy and affordability compliance.
  • Proven leadership and team development experience, with a focus on enhancing QA, service delivery, and operational efficiency.
