Join a family-run business with a strong presence in the manufacturing sector for over 30 years and an outstanding reputation. The business is seeking a Financial Controller to lead their finance team following a forthcoming retirement. This role offers the opportunity to play a crucial part in financial operations and decision-making processes, working alongside senior management/Managing Director.
Day-to-day of the role:- Oversee end-to-end financial operations within the company, including due diligence.
- Produce monthly management accounts and financial analysis.
- Generate budgets and forecasts, providing comparisons to actual performances.
- Lead and mentor the finance team, ensuring professional development and efficiency.
- Manage VAT returns, PAYE reconciliations, and control accounts.
- Liaise with external auditors and tax accountants, providing necessary documentation and support.
- Manage banking facilities and ensure compliance with external reporting requirements (e.g., FCA).
- Understand and report on financial risks.
- Collaborate with other departments to achieve the organisation’s objectives.
- Qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA, AAT or QBE).
- Experience in team management with a background in commercial, manufacturing, and retail sectors.
- Strong IT skills; experience with system implementations (Sage 200 preferred).
- Demonstrable leadership qualities with a positive, flexible, and proactive attitude.
- Diligent, with strong work ethics and integrity.
- Confident and effective communicator.
