JHE & Partners are working exclusively with a well-established and growing engineering business in Bradford who are looking to appoint a purchase ledger clerk on a permanent basis. This is a brilliant opportunity for an experienced ledger clerk working in an evolving business in the local district.

Working in a small finance team of four and working alongside the purchase ledger manager, this is a very busy role working across all aspects of the purchase ledger. Accuracy and attention to detail is key within this role, as at times it will involve processing large invoice volumes. Working on bespoke software, the client is implementing a new system in the coming year, therefore someone with previous experience of data cleansing would be good for the role.

Job details:

  • Register Invoices received via email/post
  • Process Invoices using our manufacturing system - reconcile delivery notes to invoices received and purchase orders
  • Push invoices through to the accounting system using excel interface
  • Process staff expenses, ensure that spend is as policy
  • Ensure invoices are coded correctly, VAT codings are correct as per supply made
  • Ensure good electronic / physical record keeping
  • Reconciliation of supplier statements
  • Ad-hoc supplier reporting for purchase dept
  • Liaising with suppliers and colleagues, ensuring queries are cleared up in a timely manner
  • Covering for purchase ledger manager payment processing during annual leave/absence.
  • Be responsible for data cleansing the purchase ledger ahead of the company moving to a new system.

Person specification

  • Must have a high attention to detail
  • Have a good understanding of VAT. Ie standard, zero and outside scope categorisations
  • Wider bookkeeping experience
  • Aptitude for IT - must be good with MS excel, know basic formulae/data manipulation
  • Good team working/communication skills with colleagues and suppliers.

On offer is a competitive salary paying in the region of £27,000 - £30,000, with 25 days holiday + stats. The company offers a flexitime scheme, with core hours worked between 10-12 and 14.00-16.00. The company work a standard 37.5-hour week but there is the option to accrue enough flexitime to be given an extra day's holiday per month. Additional details of package include death in service and standard pension. There is free, secure parking onsite.
