Empowering Learning are supporting an SEND school in Bradford who are looking for a School Cook/Chef.

Essential duties and responsibilities:

  • Preparing quality fresh food items according to menu and recipes.
  • Preparing and serving the daily meals, following portion control guides, meeting outlined standards, ensuring that food is cooked to, held and served at the correct temperature and is both attractively presented and tasty.
  • Ensuring the kitchen, fridges, freezers and storerooms etc are kept clean and tidy, and food and supply items are stored and labelled correctly.
  • Managing the ordering and receiving of all food and supplies as required
  • Ensuring daily bookwork and temperature records are kept to required standards.

Ideal candidate:

The ideal candidate will have knowledge of food allergies, input into menus, an understanding of food hygiene and health & safety management, hold a Level 2 Food Hygiene Certificate, experience of working in the catering industry within education and managing a team. It is essential for candidates to be able to cook to a high standard. It would be beneficial for candidates to have previous education based experience and responsibility and the ability to train other staff to cook to a high standard.

  • Previous chef/cook manager experience
  • Highly reliable and organised
  • Good leader as well as team player

This position requires a compassionate individual who is dedicated to supporting the educational needs of students. The teaching assistant will work closely with the lead teacher to create a nurturing and inclusive learning environment. Experience working with children, particularly those with special needs, is essential. Strong communication skills are also important for effectively collaborating with students, parents, and colleagues. The ability to adapt to different situations and handle challenging behaviours is crucial.
