Job Title:  Area Sales Manager

Territory: North of Birmingham upwards, covering the entire North of the UK (Scotland included).

£45,000 basic salary + OTE £95,000

Uncapped commission + Quarterly and annual performance bonuses + International travel opportunities + Company car scheme or allowance (new car every 4 years) + company pension contribution 5% + private health care + death in service x3 +

My client represents an established player in the EDM industry, specialising in the sales and service of bespoke EDM machinery. With increasing success and an expanding market, they are looking for an experienced and driven EDM Sales Manager to cover the North of the UK. While sales experience is certainly beneficial, it is not essential, as they are offering the opportunity for ambitious EDM applications engineers to take their first steps into area sales management. You will have the chance to develop a high-performing territory that has scaled significantly over the past eight years and still holds considerable growth potential. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading machine tool agent, representing cutting-edge machinery, with a thriving sales and service team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Reporting to the sales director you will manage your own diary working remotely to cover the Northern EDM territory.
  • Consultatively sell high-value machines and turnkey solutions, with an average value of £150,000 - £300,000 per machine, with some larger machines valued at up to 0.5 million.
  • Drive new business and work on existing leads generated through website and marketing efforts.
  • Expand the profitability of existing accounts
  • Achieve and exceed financial and volume sales targets through direct sales and relationship management.
  • Work closely with a technically skilled team to provide high-level customer service and technical support.
  • Provide regular sales reporting, market feedback, and share insights with the wider team.
  • You will attend exhibitions in national and international locations to promote to new businesses.
  • You will be given the opportunity to travel internationally to Japan and Singapore for external training at the principles.

Ideal Candidate

  • Experience within EDM Sales for a competitor is desirable, but not essential.
  • EDM Applications engineering backgrounds will also be considered as desirable.
  • Ability to develop strong, lasting relationships with customers and sell complex, bespoke products.
  • Strong communication skills, both technical and commercial.
  • A self-motivated individual with the ability to work independently and achieve sales targets.
  • This role is ideally suited to someone who prefers a project-based sales.
  • A full, clean driving license
  • The right to work in the UK.
