Business Development Manager - Commercial Solar

Yorkshire - Hybrid working - (1 day per week in the office is required)

Prosper Recruitment are working in partnership with a pioneering energy solutions provider based in Yorkshire, specialising in the design, development, and implementation of innovative renewable energy projects. Our client's core focus is on solar energy, where they harness cutting-edge technology and engineering expertise to create sustainable energy solutions for commercial clients. Due to growth plans the Managing Director of this company is seeking a results-driven and strategic Solar PV Business Development Manager to lead further growth of the company's commercial solar project portfolio. The successful candidate will be responsible for identifying new business opportunities, developing relationships with key stakeholders, and driving the sales and deployment of solar photovoltaic (PV) solutions to commercial clients. This role requires a deep understanding of the renewable energy market, excellent communication skills, and a passion for promoting sustainable energy practices.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the commercial solar PV sector, targeting businesses, municipalities, and institutions.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, project developers, contractors, and industry partners.
  • Conduct market research to identify emerging trends, customer needs, and competitive analysis to inform business strategies.
  • Prepare and present compelling proposals and presentations to prospective clients, highlighting the benefits and value of solar PV solutions.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and project management teams to ensure proposals are technically sound and aligned with client requirements.
  • Lead negotiations and close deals to achieve or exceed sales targets and revenue goals.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of business development initiatives, providing regular updates to senior management.
  • Attend industry events, conferences, and networking functions to promote Path Energy and expand the company's presence in the market.
  • Stay informed about regulatory changes, incentive programs, and financing options in the renewable energy sector.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Renewable Energy, Environmental Science, or a related field would be advantageous but not essential
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in business development or sales, preferably within the renewable energy or solar industry - B2B
  • Strong understanding of solar PV technology, project financing, and the commercial energy market.
  • Proven track record of meeting or exceeding sales targets and developing new business relationships.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills, with a results-oriented mindset.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic work environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Willingness to travel for client meetings and industry events as required.
