A client within the Public Sector based in West Yorkshire is currently recruiting for an Highways Maintenance Engineer to join their Planning, Transportation & Highways team as soon as possible. The client is offering a full-time, temporary position on an ongoing basis, with the ideal candidate having experience working within a local authority and a highways or engineering environment.
The Role
The key purpose of the role includes:
- Assisting in feasibility studies, public engagement, design, inspections, and project management for various highway and civil engineering projects.
- Supporting the Principal / Senior Engineer in delivering services for council committees, public forums, and other stakeholders.
- Providing technical expertise in traffic engineering, highway design, and structural engineering.
Key responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- Undertaking detailed design and feasibility studies for transport and infrastructure projects.
- Assisting in contract procurement, administration, and supervision of construction works.
- Conducting site inspections, ensuring compliance with regulations and safety standards.
- Preparing technical reports, budget estimates, and project documentation.
The Candidate
To be considered for this role, you will require:
- A relevant qualification, such as HNC/D or BSc (Hons) in Civil Engineering, or an equivalent level accredited by the Engineering Council UK.
- Engineering Technician status or progress toward Incorporated Engineer certification.
The below skills would be beneficial for the role:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant technical software.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Experience in traffic management, highway maintenance, or structural engineering.
Remuneration
The client is looking to move quickly with this role and, as such, is offering £21.80 per hour Umbrella LTD Inside IR35 (£17.50 p/h PAYE).
