About the Role:
Our client, a leading civil engineering contractor, is seeking an experienced Estimator to join their team, delivering water infrastructure projects across Yorkshire. This role will be pivotal in preparing accurate cost estimates for clean and wastewater projects, including pipelines, treatment works, and associated civil works. The successful candidate will work closely with project managers, commercial teams, and supply chain partners to develop competitive pricing strategies, ensuring project feasibility and profitability.

Key Responsibilities:
Prepare detailed cost estimates for water and wastewater infrastructure projects.
Analyze project specifications, technical drawings, and tender documents to assess scope and costs.
Work with internal teams and external suppliers to obtain competitive material and subcontractor pricing.
Ensure compliance with NEC Contracts, pricing frameworks, and risk assessments.
Develop and maintain cost databases and pricing models to support accurate estimation.
Identify potential value engineering opportunities to optimize project efficiency.
Support bid preparation and contribute to contract negotiation processes.
Assist in post-tender reviews and handovers to delivery teams.
Key Requirements:

Experience:

Strong background in civil engineering estimation within the water sector.
Sound understanding of NEC Contracts and water industry frameworks.

Technical & Commercial Skills:

Ability to analyze project specifications and identify cost implications.
Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in cost estimation software such as Conquest, Causeway, or similar tools.
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and familiarity with Microsoft Project.
Understanding of supply chain procurement and subcontractor pricing.

Qualifications & Certifications:

Degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or a related field.
Membership or accreditation (e.g., ICE, RICS, CIOB) is desirable but not essential.
Valid UK driving license (travel to sites may be required).
