Hours - Monday to Friday 8am-4pm
Cleaning Duties:
- Perform general cleaning tasks, including vacuuming, mopping, dusting, polishing, and emptying bins.
- Ensure cleaning standards meet contractual obligations and expectations.
- Carry out periodic deep cleaning as required.
- Undertake minor maintenance tasks, including basic repairs to fixtures, fittings, and equipment.
- Monitor the condition of school facilities and report any major repair or safety concerns to the Facilities Manager.
- Comply with Health, Safety, Environment, and Assurance (HSEA) regulations.
- Ensure proper use and maintenance of cleaning equipment, including machinery.
- Adhere to safe practices, such as correct use of color-coded cleaning equipment.
- Lock and unlock the school premises as needed, ensuring site security.
- Monitor access to the building and oversee safety protocols for all users.
- Respond to emergencies, including alarms, floods, or other incidents.
- Manage stock levels of cleaning and maintenance supplies.
- Order consumables through approved channels to ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
- Maintain equipment and ensure it is in safe working order.
- Deliver high-quality services, ensuring customer satisfaction for staff, students, and visitors.
- Respond promptly to queries or concerns raised by building users.
- Maintain accurate records of cleaning schedules, maintenance activities, and stock usage.
- Operate within the guidelines of the Soft Services Platform and handbook.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Previous experience in a caretaker or cleaning role (preferred).
- Basic maintenance or DIY skills.
- Understanding of health and safety regulations (e.g., COSHH, manual handling).
- Ability to use and maintain cleaning equipment and machinery.
- Good time management and organizational skills.
- Basic IT skills for record-keeping and communication.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Reliable and proactive with a strong work ethic.
- Customer-focused, with a friendly and professional demeanour.
- Flexible and adaptable to meet the needs of the school.
- Physically fit and able to perform manual tasks.
- Some out-of-hours work may be required, including early mornings, evenings, and occasional weekends.
- A valid DBS check is required for working in a school environment.
- Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
