NextGen Teachers are currently recruiting on behalf of a SEN school in Bradford (BD5) who are looking for Behaviour Mentors to support with Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4 pupils with SEN and SEMH needs.

This school caters for children with; Autism, ADHD, MLD, Complex needs, Global Delay PMLD and Behavioural needs.

The role of a Behaviour Mentor is to act as a role-model in school and to support pupils with behavioural needs and additional needs.

Key Responsibilities of Behaviour Support:

  • Support students on a 1:1 basis and in small groups, providing tailored support to meet their specific SEN and SEMH needs
  • Work collaboratively with class teachers and SENCO to implement personalised learning plans
  • Help to manage and de-escalate challenging behaviours in line with school policies
  • Provide emotional support to students, fostering their confidence and well-being
  • Assist with the delivery of interventions and learning activities, both inside and outside the classroom
  • Contribute to the creation of a safe, inclusive, and respectful classroom environment

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A genuine passion for supporting students with SEMH and SEN needs
  • Experience working with children or young people, ideally in an educational setting
  • A calm, patient, and empathetic approach, with excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of SEMH and strategies for supporting emotional and behavioural development (such as TeamTeach)
  • The ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
