About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will play a vital role in supporting schools by ensuring continuity in the classroom when teachers are unavailable. Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Classroom Supervision: Leading a variety of pre-set lessons in the teacher's absence across a range of subjects and year groups, ensuring students remain focused and engaged.
  • Behavior Management: Maintaining discipline in accordance with the school's behavior policies, fostering a calm and productive learning environment.
  • Instruction Delivery: Explaining the work set by the teacher, answering students' questions where possible, and keeping them on track with their tasks.
  • Monitoring Progress: Taking responsibility for ensuring students complete the work assigned and addressing any issues with engagement or understanding.
  • Providing Feedback: Reporting back to the absent teacher and school leadership about how the lesson progressed, highlighting any noteworthy achievements or challenges.
  • Adapting to Needs: Flexibly stepping into a range of subjects and year groups, ensuring consistency and adaptability in your approach.
  • Pastoral Care: Acting as a positive role model, supporting students with their learning, and encouraging positive attitudes towards education.

About You:

We're looking for individuals who:

  • Have previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant, Tutor, or similar educational role (desired but not essential).
  • Possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Are adaptable, organized, and capable of thinking on your feet in a dynamic school environment.
  • Are confident managing classroom behavior and maintaining high standards of conduct.
  • Hold a degree or equivalent qualifications (preferred but not required).
  • Are passionate about supporting the education and development of young people.
