Venn Group are looking for an experienced Head of HR to come in on a 12 month Fixed Term Contract.

The Role:As the Head of HR, you will play a pivotal role in developing and leading the HR function for the Trust. You will be responsible for designing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the Trust’s vision and values. Working closely with senior leaders, you will ensure that we attract, develop, and retain high-quality staff across all of our academies.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build and develop the HR function from scratch, creating efficient HR processes and systems to support operations.
  • Lead on the development and implementation of HR strategies, policies, and procedures that align with the Trust’s objectives.
  • Oversee recruitment, onboarding, and retention processes, ensuring we attract and retain top talent across our academies.
  • Provide expert HR advice and support to school leaders, ensuring compliance with employment law, safeguarding, and best practice.
  • Develop and implement a robust performance management system that supports staff development and career progression.
  • Lead on employee relations, managing complex cases and providing guidance on disciplinary and grievance procedures.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture, promoting staff well-being and engagement.
  • Work with senior leaders to manage organisational change, including restructuring and TUPE processes.
  • Ensure effective HR data management, providing reports and insights to the leadership team to inform decision-making.
  • Lead on training and development initiatives to support staff growth and CPD across the Trust.

About You:We are looking for a proactive and strategic HR professional who can build the HR function from the ground up. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Significant experience in a senior HR role, preferably within the education or public sector.
  • A proven track record of designing and implementing HR strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of UK employment law and experience in handling employee relations issues.
  • Experience in managing recruitment, performance management, and staff development.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across the organisation.
  • The ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and drive change in a fast-paced environment.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent is essential.
